AutoIncrement ID failing - Variable cannot be initialized or updated.

Hello all,

Hoping someone can help me here.  I'm pretty new to Power Automate and trying to learn things as i go.  I have a list on sharepoint which is being used to record information provided via a form.  on that i want to auto-increment an ID to use as a reference for the responses (i'm picking up this process from someone else who did this all manually so i already have a starting number to being with.)   I looked around and saw some posts mentioning creating a 2nd list to control what the ID should be, which is what i have done.  However whenever i run/test my flow i get the following error message.

The variable 'Number' of type 'Integer' cannot be initialized or updated with value of type 'Float'. The variable 'Number' only supports values of types 'Integer'.

My flow as it stands currently looks like this:

If anyone can help me here, I would appreciate it.

@Gary_L84 You don't need to use a variable in your case. You can use an expression to increment the ID by 1.

Insert an expression and use the add() function. The add() function takes two numbers and adds them together.

In your original screenshots it looks like you are incrementing the CDA ID. However, in your post you've mentioned that you want to increment the ID. Can you clarify the which dynamic content you'd like to increment?

Also, I'd recommend using the ID dynamic content in the Update Item action instead of hardcoding it.

    Hi CreativeOpinion,

thank you for that.  i will certainly take a look at that and those youtube videos you have passed me.  the CDA ID is what will be added upon going forwards.
