Save Teams Message with image to OneNote

Hello -

I am new to power automate and flows and need some help. I set up a basic flow from a template within MS Teams (Save a message to OneNote Desktop). I was able to edit it and get it to run. However, if there is an image within the MS Teams message that does not carry through. I get an image icon with a red X within OneNote Desktop and an outline of an image box on OneNote OWA. I am trying to get the content from the MS Teams message/post, words and images. Also, is there a way to update the script to send the main message as well as all replies/comments?

See screen shots for examples. Any help would be appreciated.

hi spags09, i have been looking for a way to modify the "save a message to onenote" so that i can select the target notebook and section during the save operation.  based on your screen images i looks like you may have figured this out with an adaptive card?  i would love to understand if that is true and how you did it.  thanks for reading

Hi, I am currently working on this project 2 months after you commented on this thread. Did you make any head way before I waste a stupid amount of time on this?

I am wondering if it's a permissions thing and if a service account with elevated permissions might be able to execute the flows we need. Teams saves the picture in azure/exchange and I don't think my AD account has that access so the flow fails to grab the jpg. I wonder if I had a super service account, if it could snag the image from there. Did you try anything like that?

I'm not sure if it is a permission issue. Using a work account and not an admin account. I didn't evaluate it on a personal account either. If you figure anything out, please let me know! I feel like this is a basic function that should just work. Also, I'm glad I'm not the only one encountering this issue. Wish there were a way to tag a Microsoft admin/support/employee to confirm an answer/solution.

I am currently trying to pull in our already over worked IT folks to see if they can help me.

One thing I did notice is gifs transfer over as jpgs. I decided to right click and send over a random picture a coworker sent me on teams and it's truly the only image to make it's way to OneNote.

Another weird thing is I added a flow step that sends a message to the teams chat that regurgitates Message Content expression and includes a link to the OneNote page. This is after the Create Page flow and it has no problem displaying the image!

Thats awesome!!! That was further than I was able to get. LMK what your IT dept says and if they have a solution. I would love to see the final flow and steps to reproduce. I know I am not the only one who would benefit from this solution.

I had my meeting with the head of IT today. They signed into my Teams' connection with their full admin service account . Still no luck pulling photos into OneNotes unless they are Team's supplied gifs.

Eventually we ran out of time before we could make any headway. I am still not positive we have everything we need to pull data from Azure. I wonder if I need to add a new connection? Source for my assumption:

I am probably giving up on this project due to lack of support from Microsoft. The time I wasted the last 2 weeks will never be recovered by the few seconds this flow was going to save me. Hopefully we will get an answer someday!

Thanks for the follow-up and letting me know! It puzzles me that MS couldn't include this functionality. Seems basic and definitely a showstopper.
