Power Automate Flows suddenly stop working

Flows for invoice processing with AI Builder working reliable for years stopped working last week. Something is wrong with the AI Builder output.

ResponseSwaggerSchemaValidationFailure.
The API 'commondataserviceforapps' returned an invalid response for
workflow operation 'Informationen_aus_Rechnungen_extrahieren' of type
'OpenApiConnection'. Error details: 'The API operation 'PredictV2'
requires the property 'body/responsev2/predictionOutput' to be of type
'Object' but is of type 'String'.'

    Hi     ,

    Thank you for choosing Microsoft Community.

    Your long‑running invoice‑processing flows stopped working because of a backend change to AI Builder’s PredictV2 response format, and the action now sometimes returns  prediction output as a string instead of the object your flow expects, causing the schema‑validation error you are seeing.

    The fix is to either re‑publish your AI Builder model and re‑select it in the flow (which forces AI Builder to regenerate the correct schema), or bypass the broken PredictV2 response by switching to the new “Extract information from documents (AI Builder)” action, or—if needed—temporarily wrap the returned string in a Parse JSON step to convert it back into an object until regression is resolved.

    I hope this helps resolve the issue! If you need more specific guidance, feel free to ask.

    Hi @JG-20051907-0,

    Problem:

    This error indicates that the AI Builder action is receiving a response in an unexpected format, likely due to backend changes or data inconsistencies. Common causes include changes in the AI Builder API response, corrupted or unexpected input data, or temporary service issues.

    Recommended troubleshooting steps:

    • Verify the input to the AI Builder action is correctly formatted and valid.
    • Check for any recent updates or changes in AI Builder or Power Automate connectors.
    • Retry the flow after some time to see if the issue resolves.
    • Contact Microsoft support if the problem persists.

    For more details and community discussions, refer to the Power Platform Community forums and official Microsoft documentation.

    • Interestingly this PredictV2 issue occured earlier also.
    • A relevent issue was discussed in this thread.

    I am sure some clues I tried to give. If these clues help to resolve the issue brought you by here, please don't forget to check the box Does this answer your question? At the same time, I am pretty sure you have liked the response!

    @Robu1

    Hello,

    I am using the standard Microsoft " Process Invoices". There is nothing to republish.

    There is no “Extract information from documents (AI Builder)” action.#

    I tried the suggested fixes by Haque.

    From my understanding Microsoft caused this issue, are they going to fix it?

    As you are using the prebuilt invoice model, there is nothing to republish, and the new “Extract information from documents (AI Builder)” action is still rolling out — many tenants (including yours) do not see it yet.

    This means the only real fix right now is to raise a Microsoft support ticket so they can patch the regression in your environment, because the issue is entirely service‑side and cannot be corrected inside your flow.

    To raise a Microsoft support ticket for your broken AI Builder invoice flow,

    Go to the Power Platform Admin Center at admin.powerplatform.microsoft.com,

    open Help + support, and select New support request,

    Then choose Power Automate as the product and AI Builder → Prediction / Document Processing as the issue type;

    Describe the problem using the exact error (“PredictV2 is returning predictionOutput as a string instead of an object, causing ResponseSwaggerSchemaValidationFailure”), attach a failed run screenshot, and submit—if you’re not an Environment Admin or Global Admin, your IT admin must submit it for you.

    I hope this helps.
