I have a power automate approval workflow.  Users want to be able to approve in a list directly or in approval email, how do I tie the two together or can I?

I tried adding an Or statement in the condition that includes the outcome but that doesn't work.

    Hi @BG-15041758-0,

Can you please share a screenshot on what you have tried so far? Logically you cannot achieve these two paths in a single flow.

You cannot directly "tie" approving an item in a SharePoint list and approving via the approval email into a single condition with a simple OR statement because these are two different approval mechanisms with different outputs and triggers.

    What you can do is:

Take a single approval (PA) for example Start and wait for an approval - user can respond either via approval email or from Power Automate Approval center. Once the approval is completed, the sp list will refelct the approval status (irrespective via email/app/approval center). Now the case come approve directly in the SP list (via column or power apps form, say) we need to trigger a different flow when the list item is modified (Action: When an item is created or modified) - here in the second flow (different one) we can check the approval status and update that accordingly. You have to keep a track somehow how approval status changes - you can keep log list for that also.

Note: There might be a chance of concurrency conflict (deadlock in the list if we don't handll update carefully).

You can use SharePoint quick steps to execute a flow or send an approval request:

If users must be able to approve from both the approval email and the SharePoint list, don't rely on a simple OR condition after a Start and wait for an approval action. Instead, store the approval status in a common SharePoint column and implement a monitoring/synchronization pattern (typically using two flows or a Do Until loop) so either action can complete the approval process and update the other source.
