I have a PowerPoint Slide Deck that need to be updated using data from an Excel file. We do not have Plumsail or Encodian. I have tried updating a Sharepoint file btu cannot get it to populate the Powerpoint slides.

    Hi there,

Updating PowerPoint slides directly from Excel without third‑party connectors is tricky because Power Automate doesn’t have a native “write into PowerPoint” action. The built‑in connectors can move files around (SharePoint, OneDrive) but they don’t let you inject Excel values into slide placeholders.
What you can do with Microsoft tools only

    1. Linked Excel data in PowerPoint
        ◦ Open your slide deck in PowerPoint.
        ◦ Insert a table or chart and link it to your Excel file (Insert → Object → Create from file → Link).
        ◦ When the Excel file updates, you can refresh the link in PowerPoint. This avoids needing a connector.

    2. Office Scripts + Power Automate
        ◦ Store your Excel file in OneDrive/SharePoint.
        ◦ Use an Office Script to extract the data you need.
        ◦ Power Automate can run the script and then update a placeholder text file or metadata.
        ◦ You’d still need to open PowerPoint and refresh linked content, but this automates the Excel side.

    3. Alternative Microsoft approach
        ◦ Instead of pushing Excel data into PowerPoint, consider publishing the Excel data to Power BI and then embedding visuals into PowerPoint using the Power BI add‑in for PowerPoint. This way, slides always show the latest data without manual updates.

Without Plumsail or Encodian, you can’t directly “write” Excel values into PowerPoint via Power Automate. The Microsoft‑native options are linking Excel objects, using Office Scripts for automation, or embedding Power BI visuals.
