Dear experts,

I need to create a flow whereas documents need to be approved by 2 persons out of 5 approvers.

Has anyone created something similar using the "Create Approval" tool in Power Automate ?

This, unfortunately, is not supported by the current approvals' functionality. Microsoft has an "approvals kit" that you can add to an environment, but I am not sure that handles this type of approval either. You can get more information on the approvals kit at Introducing Approvals kit - Microsoft Power Platform Blog. I am not even sure Microsoft has done any improvements to it since it was released in December 2023.

@RezaDorrani has a YouTube channel with a play list of videos all featuring approvals in Power Automate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tiLyIL6Q2Wk&list=PLTyFh-qDKAiFUGTtwSwFT79Y7_jq_Aipe. You can look through them; I vaguely recall that he had a workaround for this type of approval.

Thanks for your help @David_MA. I will check both the kit and the you tube channel

This is quite easy to implement using a some additional columns on your list/library or an additional list that keeps track of everything.

I'm assuming that you have a SharePoint item/document to approve but it could be anything. You will now need to create an approval step for each of your 5  approvers. Then when a person approves the request, you update a property on the item that takes the first approver's name. When the second approver approves that will set another property on the item.

When the second approver is set you will need to cancel the outstanding requests.

When you create the requests you will be given an Approval ID. You will need this to cancel the 3 outstanding requests after the first approvals have been processed.
