Merging PDFs

Hi All,

I have 9 test PDFs ( all single page ), all identical except number 6.

I was hoping / presuming it would merge sequentially.

On the merged PDF, number 6 is page 4...

Thoughts ? 🤔

Try get files, advanced, sort alphabetically by name ascending, then try to merge the list. See if that helps.

    good luck!

Thanks Mike but already tried that. Spent quite a bit of (wasted) time double checking inc properties trying to figure it out.

So descending toggle set to left = descending.

Wheras set to the right = ascending.

Thats absolute genius whoever came up with that 😂😂😂

    Genuinely at a loss now.

I was mistaken re that toggle, it does get them correctly, toggle off is ascending, on is descending, my bad.

Im able to merge the pdfs correctly now but I think its the merge that was causing the issue, not getting the files in the first place.

Am I right in saying the merge gets reversed ?

As in im having to get the files in reverse order, then the merge reverses it back to the way I want ?

I am not particularly sure. I use AutoSplit to do all my PDF splitting/renaming/merging (about $100-120 per computer, one time cost). I haven’t ever used the merge feature of PAD.

Done it about a dozen times now, works perfectly, however...

Its counterintuitive, get the files in reverse order but when merged they are in correct order.

I swear it was killing me trying to figure out what the hell was going on.

This is how it works for me...

    Get 1-9, merge = 9-1

    Get 9-1, merge = 1-9.

Unless its me messing up somewhere, not the first time 🙄

Yeah there are great paid for solutions which are cheap as chips for what you get, im  just setting up a future pdf automation....

Here was me thinking that merging the pdfs would be the easy part 😂

    Hi @UK_Mike,

I'm glad you were able to solve the problem! 😊

When such issues arise, it can become challenging and time-consuming to work on them. That's when the great solutions you mentioned come in handy. Out of all I've used, I would recommend Plumsail Documents — it offers merging & splitting PDFs, watermarking, e-signatures, and many other handy features. Please note that it is a paid solution with a one-month free trial.

    Hope this was useful!
