Kaizala groups and flow

The idea is that all the responses are logged in a DB per subject, and may trigger some action.

Do you have that “been there, done that” feeling?

So when the subject is determined, a dynamic group is created on Kaizala, the appropriate people are added to the group, and an initial message is sent out.

This part I got working in a powerapp, and I’m now brainstorming on how I can log all response messages. 😊

I found some documentation on the kaizala connector, (not sure if carlosag.net is a good reference, but google seems to think so)

and immediately find the list in the documentation, is  longer than the list of functions in PowerApps itself.

  • MicrosoftKaizala.AddGroupToGroup
  • MicrosoftKaizala.AddSubscriberToGroup
  • MicrosoftKaizala.AddUserToGroup
  • MicrosoftKaizala.CreateSubgroup
  • MicrosoftKaizala.DeleteTrigger
  • MicrosoftKaizala.RemoveGroupFromGroup
  • MicrosoftKaizala.RemoveUserFromGroup
  • MicrosoftKaizala.CreateGroup
  • MicrosoftKaizala.PostReaction
  • MicrosoftKaizala.SendActionReminder
  • MicrosoftKaizala.SendActions
  • MicrosoftKaizala.Send
  • MicrosoftKaizala.SendMessage
  • MicrosoftKaizala.SendReply
  • MicrosoftKaizala.UploadMediaFileContent
  • MicrosoftKaizala.UploadMediaFromAttachment
  • MicrosoftKaizala.UploadMediaFromURL

😕 Not sure if that is a good sign.

I should look for the solution, outside of the app, in flow.

Afterall it should continue, even if the app is stopped or the phone is turned off !!

I know a flow can be triggered by a message in a group, but my groups are dynamic,….

So how would I get a flow to be triggered by a message to a group I will create in an hour or tomorrrow?

I thought perhaps by adding the dynamic group to a static one. (MicrosoftKaizala.AddGroupToGroup)

But can we still “see” the dynamic “subgroup” in the message, so we know what subject to update?

Will the top group receive a message when a subgroup replies?

From the docs I’ve seen so far, it is top down, so it will not.

I have tried making one group member of another (top) group.

There is a flow, that will trigger on a message in the top group, but I notice it remains inactive on a message in the subgroup.

Or am I doing it wrong?

Maybe I misunderstood what kaizala is about, and is it oriented to simply broadcast.

Thanks for any response,

Michel

    Hi @MichelH,

    1. Your Group is dynamic, is it new created one every time you add a message? You could consider creating multiple Flows for each group because the flow be can not be triggered by dynamic Group ID.

    2. If you create add the AddGroupToGroup action, the subgroup and the top group won't receive a message when a subgroup replies unless you create another Flow with trigger When a text message is added in a group.

    Hi @v-litu-msft  Lin Tu,

    Thanks for your response.

A new group per message would be hard to handle I think.

The idea was a group per subject.

So there is no way to dynamically listen to a group that was created?

The only way is a hardcoded groupID?

Too bad, I will have to add it to the ideas board then.

Maybe I can have a temporary solution by not using dynamic groups, but a pool of static ones.

I should then relate a subject to a group.

And have a flow running for each group.

Not very practical, but doable I think.

I was hoping there would be a better solution.

    Regards,

    Michel
