Power automate Process license in AWS environment

Hi Team

I am thinking of placing Power Automate application in AWS environment with unattended mode. For that, I am thinking of upgrading to Power Automate Process.

Pls let me know do I have to keep EC2 instance running all the time? or if I have Power automate process (1 unattended bot) , it can run in background, without keeping the instance running.

Question	Answer
Does Power Automate Process (unattended bot) run without a machine?	❌ No
Does AWS EC2 need to stay running?	✅ Yes
Can the unattended bot run in the background without the instance?	❌ No
Why?	The bot runs on a real/virtual machine, not cloud‑only

If cost is a concern with EC2:

1) Use a smaller instance (t3.small/t3.medium).
2) Use stop/start automation (if your bot has predictable schedule).

Start EC2 → run job → stop EC2.

3) Or switch to Azure VM with Auto‑Shutdown/Auto‑Start for easier integration.

Details:

A Power Automate Process licence (unatended RPA) does NOT run “in the cloud” by itself.
Unattended RPA always needs a physical or virtual machine running with:

Power Automate Desktop installed
The Machine Runtime / Gateway installed
A machine account to run the unattended bot
The machine powered ON and available

Microsoft clearly states that unattended RPA runs on a target machine, not in the background of the cloud.
So in AWS, Your EC2 instance must remain running during the entire bot execution.
If the EC2 instance is stopped or hibernated:

The bot cannot connect
Unattended runs will fail
Flows will show “machine unavailable”

What is the difference between Power Automate Premium and Power Automate Process. (unattended bot)

Can I use Power Automate Premium, in my set up? (creating Windows VM in AWS environment and running Power Automate it 24X7. We have both Cloud Flow and Desktop Flow)
