With the Unattended RPA add-on (bot $150/month) 5000 free credits are provided each month. If we use 5001 credits during the first month will we be automatically billed for a new block of credits ($500 for 1 million credits) or would AI Builder just stop working? We are hoping it would just stop working.

Do AI Builder credits build up from the previous months (e.g. after 3 months of 5000 free credits, we would have 15,000 credits available for use if we don't use any)?

Do AI Builder credits ever expires? (ex: expire after a year of not being used)

AI Builder credits cost "$500 per unit/month" for 1 million credits for each payment. We probably will not need 12 million credits each year. Would it be possible to just buy a $500 block of credits as we need it (maybe twice a year- $1000 total) versus a monthly pricing model ($6000/year)?

AI Builder is a monthly subscription. The credits are renewed for your tenant every month, credits don't build up from one month to the next. If you use more credits than you paid for we do not automatically bill for a new block of credits and AI Builder doesn't stop working as we don't want to interrupt any critical business process that could rely on AI Builder.

At this time, AI Builder is only available as a monthly subscription.

recent changes makes it:
"If you use more credits than you paid for we do not automatically bill for a new block of credits and AI Builder doesn't stop working for a fair overage, but may eventually block if the overage becomes excessive"

So I built this template that processes any document just using the less expensive image recognition AI Builder service & GPT.

It seems much less expensive with a much lower barrier to entry only requiring a premium Power Automate license with 5000 AI Builder credits per month & some on-going LLM / GPT costs…

If I’m looking at this right, this method should cost

Image recognition +.0017

GPT prompt & output +.007

Flow actions +.00375

So about $ .013 per page.

Less expensive than any of the other microsoft document/receipt/invoice processing options. And several of those take about 30 seconds to run.
And the 5000 AI Builder credits that come with the now $15 premium Power Automate license is enough for 1500 Image recognition pages. So you could probably process 500-750 documents per month with just 1 premium Power Automate license.

So it seems this method is faster, less expensive, easier to adjust, & requires less set-up than other standard AI builder set-ups.

Once the GPT actions are in general availability, I don’t know why I’d use any of the other services. 🤷‍
