Change From Address in Send Email Action

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport

I have created several Flows that have 'send email' actions.

The 'send email' action works, however those receiving those emails are getting emails from me specifically rather than the Power Automate.

How do I reconfigure the 'send email' action so that the 'From' content is from Power Automaye or an email (shared/group) account rather than me?

    Hi @Phineas ,

I did a test for your reference.

You need to have "Send As" permission for whatever email you want to send the "From" to.  So first you'll need to determine what account it should come from (it's best practice to have a service account for this), and then ensure it has you added for Send As.

    I don't understand.

This is a scheduled flow. How does the sign-in factor in, as no one is signing in to trigger the flow, it triggers on it own every morning.

In this case what would be the default 'From' address?

Are you saying in your solution a shared or group email will work, as long as I have permission in that email to use it?

I am the developer and not an employee. Once my contract is up my AD profile will be deleted, then what?

    Hi @Phineas ï¼Œ

The default 'From’ is the email address connected to the 'Send an email' action.

And, unless changed, that default email - by default, is that of the Flow creator, yes?

    Hi @Phineas ,

    Yes, your judgment is correct.

To your knowledge, are their any restrictions on the 'type' of email that can be used as the default?

Is there a difference between 'a service account' and a shared or group email?

Can either a shared or group email be used?

    Hi @Phineas ,

There are restrictions and you cannot use shared mailboxes and group mailboxes.

I went to find the literature today and found the document about permission (send as).

    You can check it out.

Allow members to send as or send on behalf of a group | Microsoft Learn

Create a shared mailbox - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn

Of course, you can also set a proxy email address for your personal account through this method.

I did a test of shared mailbox proxy permissions.
