How to get my colleague's workflow

Hi everyone,

My colleague created a Power Automate workflow that syncs data from the Power BI portal to SharePoint. He has since left the company, and I'm now responsible for maintaining this workflow.

The workflow is still running automatically, but I can't view or edit it because it was owned by my colleague, and no one in our organization currently has access to it. The only information I have is his CEC ID.

Would an Environment Admin or Power Platform Admin be able to help in this situation? Specifically, can they transfer ownership of the workflow to me or make me a co-owner so I can view and maintain it?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I can only speak to how this works at my company as part of our overall governance model. I'm not one of our Power Platform administrators; I only have Environment Administrator access. However, based on what you describe, you will likely need to recreate the workflow unless it is contained within a solution.

If the workflow is within a solution, a Power Platform Administrator, Environment Administrator, or existing owner can add you as a co-owner. Once you are a co-owner, you can update the connection references to use your credentials and then transfer primary ownership to yourself. See https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-automate/change-cloud-flow-owner for information.

If the workflow is not in a solution, an administrator may be able to move it into a solution first. Once the flow is solution-aware, you can follow the steps above. However, not every environment has Dataverse enabled, which is needed to create solutions, so that may not be an option. In those cases, the workflow would likely need to be recreated.
