Have you tried using the ctrl button and the mouse wheel? When you launch the UI recorder this combination lets you scroll through the available elements on screen. Those that are encapsulated in <> are browser elements, and any without are application elements. You might have to move your mouse about a bit and then hold ctrl down on the keyboard before trying out this method but it will let you scroll between available elements.
