Hello, I have published the agent for testing with a few users, and one of them told me she is seeing this message:

What's the credit limits for the environment and how can we increase it?

There is no standard credit limit for an environment. The amount is whatever an admin allocated to it, so the answer is specific to your tenant.

How it works. A Copilot Studio licence includes a number of Copilot Credits pooled at tenant level, and those credits must be assigned to an environment before agents in that environment can use them. Once consumption exceeds what is allocated to that environment, runs are blocked, which is the message your tester saw. Consumption resets on the first of each month and unused capacity does not carry over.

Where to look. Power Platform admin center, Licensing, then Products, then Copilot Studio, then the Summary tab. That shows allocated capacity and daily consumption per environment for up to three months, so you can see both how much this environment had and how fast it was consumed.

    Three ways to increase it
    1. Reallocate. Check whether the tenant has unallocated credits or credits sitting on environments that are not using them. Often nothing needs buying, the pool is just assigned badly. Cheapest fix.
    2. Attach a pay-as-you-go billing plan with the Copilot Studio meter to the environment. This removes the hard stop entirely, since consumption bills to an Azure subscription rather than draining a fixed allocation. This is what I would do for a UAT environment where you cannot predict usage and do not want testers blocked mid-session.
    3. Buy more prepaid capacity. Only worth it once you have real consumption data, since unused credits are lost each month.
One thing worth checking on cost. Look at the consumption breakdown before assuming you need more capacity. Agents burn credits at very different rates depending on what they do, and generative orchestration with several tools per turn costs considerably more than a simple topic. A few days of testing exhausting an allocation usually means either the allocation was small or something in the agent is heavier than expected. Also worth confirming how your test users are licensed, since that can affect what gets metered.

For now, the immediate unblock is asking your admin to allocate more credits to that environment or attach a pay-as-you-go plan. Either takes a couple of minutes.

This message means the Copilot Credits available for the environment have been used up or there are not enough credits allocated to it.

There isn't one fixed credit limit for every environment. It depends on your organization's Copilot Studio licensing/capacity and how many credits are allocated to that environment.

I would recommend asking your Power Platform admin to check the credit usage in the Power Platform Admin Center → Licensing → Copilot Studio.

If the environment is running out of credits, you can increase the available capacity by allocating additional Copilot Credits, purchasing additional capacity, or using Pay-as-you-go, depending on your licensing setup.

    The immediate fix is:

PPAC → Licensing → Copilot Studio → Environments → select your environment → allocate more Copilot Credits or enable PAYG.

And before increasing capacity significantly, check the Copilot Credit consumption details. That will tell you whether a few testers are genuinely consuming the expected amount or whether a particular knowledge/tool/agent-flow design is causing unexpectedly high consumption.

Everything above checks out. One extra thing worth checking too, there's also a per agent monthly limit, separate from the environment allocation. Licensing > Copilot Studio > Manage Agents > select the agent > Set limit. If someone capped this specific agent independently, that's the block even if the environment itself has room.

    Hi @Valantis,
Thanks for bringing that point - per agent monthly limit - I learned that just now!

    Hi @Sam_Fawzi,
You brought up a good trick - "This is what I would do for a UAT environment where you cannot predict usage and do not want testers blocked mid-session"
