querying a multi-person field from a SharePoint list in Power Automate - Beginners Question

Hello everyone,

I hope that a kind and helpful colleague can lend a hand to a beginner like me.

I’m trying to query a multi-person field and am struggling with the necessary array format.

The field I want to query is a “person column element” where the person is selected during entry – here’s an example.

I’d like to query this information and re-enter it into a copy of the SharePoint list.

However, I lack the expertise to understand what this array should look like…

Could someone please help me out and guide a beginner?

Many thanks in advance for your support!

with kind regards
Mario

querying a multi-person field from a SharePoint list in Power Automate - Beginners Question
    Hello David,

again - thank you very much for your great support ...and please apologize if I was unclear what i want to achieve.

The complete topic is, that I do have a list "A" (open projects) and whenever someone is adding a new list element, a copy of that list element should be created in list "B" (project history),

Now, my flow works for all list elements except the two columns, in which the information of the "person who has created the element" and the "person to whom that element is assigned".

so, long story short - in list "B" (project history) I want to have the exisiting names of List "A")...just like a simple copy...

Sorry, for the confusion and - again - thank you so much for your patience :-)

    with kind regards
    Mario

Are you trying to populate the field with names or get the existing names from within the field? The approach depends on what you want. Your question says you want to query it which indicates you want to get the existing names, but then you show an image that looks to be from an update item action, which would indicate you want to populate the field with names.

querying a multi-person field from a SharePoint list in Power Automate - Beginners Question
    Hello mmbr1606,

at first - thank you very much for your quick reply and the perfect explanation...that is really a great job 👏

I have tried that a couple of times in the last days and indeed I am struggling a little bit.

Right now I am able either to run my power automate flow and all columns will be copied into the second list - except the two multi person fields.

So, please allow me a probably stupid / a beginner Question....would it work to run my 1st flow to copy all information into my second list and AFTER that, run a second flow that copies the two multi person columns in the same list?

Sorry for asking again for help but my hope is, you probably have another link/manual for that

Thank you very much in advance for your support.

    with kind regards
    Mario
