AI Builder to Copilot Credits Conversion question

Hi,

Checking if anyone has done a conversion planning to Copilot Credits from AI Builder. We are using AI builder right now mostly for document processing.

Our process is consuming 100 AI builder credits per page. In my understanding based on the table on this link Overview of licensing | Microsoft Learn is when we transition to Copilot credits. That would be 8 Copilot Credits per document page. I was using this guideline to determine how much Copilot credits would we need.

We have a MS contact that is telling me that no conversion table was published. The table on the link i saw have a different unit. though it corresponds to how i see the AI builder is being consumed.

Our estimate is around 1.7m AI builder credits per month. and MS contact came up with this.

Copilot Credit packs per 1 AI Builder pack (Copilot Credit pack = 25,000 credits; AI Builder add-on pack = 1,000,000
credits). for 1.7M/month baseline, that's roughly 2M Copilot Credits/year as a planning anchor.

Wondering what other might have done.

    Hi,
Your understanding is mostly correct. Microsoft has published operation-level consumption rates for AI Builder workloads under Copilot Credits, including document processing scenarios.

Based on the licensing documentation, document processing currently consumes approximately 8 Copilot Credits per page, which is why many customers are using that number for estimation during planning.

However, there is still some confusion because Microsoft has not provided a simple “AI Builder credits to Copilot credits” conversion calculator or direct pack-to-pack mapping. So your Microsoft contact is correct in that sense and there is no official flat conversion ratio between the two licensing models.

The best approach is to estimate based on actual workload usage rather than pack equivalency.
    For example:
    - Current usage: ~1.7M AI Builder credits/month
    - If your workload consistently consumes 100 AI Builder credits per page
    - Then you can estimate document volume first, and from there estimate Copilot Credits using the published per-page consumption guidance

That will be much more accurate than comparing pack sizes directly.

    I’d also recommend:
    - Reviewing a few months of actual document/page volumes
    - Validating whether all your AI Builder scenarios are moving to Copilot Credit consumption
    - Asking Microsoft for a tenant-specific consumption assessment if available
