Dear Forum Members,

I need support on an issue

Requirement

I am using retrieve email message from Outlook Action to retrieve my emails , My requirement is need to read the "email address of the sender" and respond to the sender by using  SMTP Relay. (i should not respond back on the same email i should respond back with send email Activity).

Problem

I am able to retrieve valid username for emails from a some domain, however if i receive email from some other domain i am getting username as encapsulated format-: Eg:. /O=EXCHANGELAB/OU=EXCHANGE ADMINISTRATIVE GROUP ........

Any input on this issue? please help.

Regards,

Jyothi

The most I can offer you is a small trick that maybe can get you what you want, use the "Save outlook message" and set the saving format to a .txt file inside this action. Save it somewhere on your PC and afterwards read that .txt file and use regex to find the email address, (usually confined between < > brackets) however, this won't always get you an email because it only stores the text it sees in the email, i.e. if the email comes with a name in its From field instead of an email in that same field, it won't see it as it doesn't store the background details.

Otherwise, the reason you're running into this might be due to the email being sent to you being on an Exchange server, thus you'll need to connect via an exchange server action instead to get the actual email address, I THINK, I'm not 100% sure on that.

    Hope this helps somehow.

I am facing the same error. I am trying to fetch the sender's email address from the Email action. Instead of email address, I am getting following /O=EXCHANGELABS/OU=EXCHANGE ADMINISTRATIVE GROUP (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/CN=RECIPIENTS/CN=36EE81557DAC4F2B84A4373AAdcdcdcgfd

And about getting the email from Exchange, For testing, I sent the email from my own email account. SO I do not think it is an issue of exchange, but seems to be more of a bug in Power Automate for Desktop.

My previous response is super out-dated now so please ignore it,

A colleague of mine noticed that this happens for only forwarded, chained and replied to emails, there is no way to fix this that we can see at the moment, but, there are some small workarounds for some things, because its forwarded / chained / replied to,  the email that you want is not in the Variable. From but in Variable.Body part of the email, so you'll need to create a condition where it checks for the from field first, and then if it doesn't find it, use the Body field instead, where with the combination of either the "Recognise entities in text"  or "Parse text" action, you can find the email address.
