AI Builder credits

Hi there,

I'm struggling how the AI Builder credits are settled. I have a few questions. Perhaps someone could help me with it:

- Do you still get 5.000 credits per month with Power Automate Premium?

- What happens if you reach the amount of 5.000 credits in a month? Will the AI Builder not be working for the rest of the month untill you get new monthly credits?

- Can you help me explain where the credit in my tenant are being used for? I have a Power Automate Premium license with 5.000 AI Builder credits per month. When I have a look at the output from de Power Platform Admin Centre I see a higher usage than 5.000 credits per dayWe process about 250 PDF's per month, where every PDF has 2 pages. If someone from Microsoft contact me, I can share my Envorinment ID so you can look things up.

- Is the only way to get more AI Builder credits to purchase 1 unit for $ 500,- per month? Is there an alternative?

    Hi,

Yes, you get 5000 credits per month with 1 Power Automate Premium license.

When you are in overage, this explains what happens : AI Builder licensing and credit management | Microsoft Learn. In 2 words, Maker actions are blocked, and AI Builder model still runs while overage is not important, then stop working. This behavior stays until consumption credits are reset, so until end of the month.

-please share envId with me in private message so we can have a look.

Alternatively, you can check AI Builder consumption report - AI Builder | Microsoft Learn and better, Monitor model activity (preview) | Microsoft Learn.

-to get more AI Builder credits, you can effectively purchase AI Builder capacity add-on ($500 for 1M credits) or purchase other premium licenses with seeded credits. You can also request extensions when you are in overage, but that only helps with current month.

    Hi David,

I had answered you in private message. Here was my answer:

The report you've shared is correct. As far as I can tell, the consumption is effectively coming from Document Processing model(s).

Beginning of October,  enforcement rules allowed to consume much more than the initial capacity (5000 credits) . That's how your environment ended up with a total consumption of 26800 credits mid October.

During the Oct 16th week, new enforcement rules were released, so your AI Builder actions were blocked because of overage. But on Oct 24th, a user asked for an extension request, which granted 200,000 credits. That's how your environment continued to consume credits from Oct 24th up to the end of October month.

    Hope this helps.

If I have Power Automate license which provides 5000 credits for AI builder. If I consume more than that, I can request extensions 200,000 credits, right? But how many times can I request for it?

Yes, you can request an extension of 200,000 credits once you have consumed your initial 5,000 credits.

After that, you can request another 200,000 credits once you have consumed the entire 205,000 credits.

You can repeat this process, but there is a limit to the number of times you can do so.

However, this limit is not documented because it is subject to change.
