Send a message to a WhatsApp group

Hi All,

Is there a way that I can create an MS Power Automate workflow that monitors Outlook emails? If a specific word is within an email subject line the workflow sends a text message to a WhatsApp group.

I've seen the Twilio action which can send a message to one specific WhatsApp user, but not to a WhatsApp group.

I hope you can help,

Colin

I think the What's group is a logical grouping of multiple phone numbers together.

It is like you and I can both have the Whatsapp group named "Football" but each has its own members

    Isn't it?

    Hi Colin,

WhatsApp groups are logical groupings tied to specific members, even if multiple groups share the same name. Unfortunately, Twilio's API doesn’t support sending messages directly to WhatsApp groups, only individuals. A workaround is sending messages individually to group members, though it's not the same as group messaging. You could also explore WhatsApp Plus 2025 for added features, but be cautious as it's not an official app.

    Hi Colin,

You could also check out third-party apps like GB WhatsApp, though they are not officially supported, so use with caution.

Yes, Twilio does not support sending messages to WhatsApp groups directly; it only allows messaging individual contacts. A workaround would be to send messages individually to group members, but this isn’t the same as true group messaging. Additionally, third-party apps like WhatsApp PLus can offer group messaging functionality, though they are not officially supported by WhatsApp, so they come with potential security and reliability risks. Always proceed with caution when using unofficial apps.

    Hi Colin,

Twilio doesn’t officially support sending messages to WhatsApp groups either, but you can still message individual members of a group. A workaround is sending messages one by one to group members, though it’s not the same as group messaging. Keep in mind that GB WhatsApp Pro is a third-party app and is not officially supported by WhatsApp, so use it at your own risk.

    Hi Colin,

This is an interesting use case. As far as I know, Power Automate can easily monitor Outlook emails and trigger actions based on keywords in the subject line. However, sending messages directly to a WhatsApp group is more challenging because most official integrations, including Twilio, are designed for individual WhatsApp recipients rather than group chats.

You may need to use a custom API, webhook, or a third-party automation service that supports WhatsApp group messaging. It would be great if Microsoft or Twilio added native support for WhatsApp groups in the future.

As an alternative for personal use, some users prefer WhatsApp Plus Oficial, which offers additional messaging features and customization options.

    Hope this helps!
