PAD shows error "Failed to open Excel document (File related error)" when opening an excel file from sharepoint

Hi everyone,

I am facing a very weird issue with PAD and ran out of ideas. I have a PAD flow that opens excel file from SharePoint and it works fine on several machines. However, when I setup a virtual machine and run the same flow, I get the "Failed to open Excel document (File related error)"  message. I have tested excel itself on the virtual machine and it does open the Excel file from SharePoint directly without any issues. I reinstalled PAD and Office but still same issue. What am I missing?

Thanks

Nayer

    Hi @nayergirgis

Looks like someone got this error earlier.

There are multiple solutions that worked for multiple members on the thread ranging from Office re-installation, Office repair, Updating Windows, or even adding a "Terminate process" action prior to launching excel.

Check out which one could work out in your situation.

    Hi VJR,

Thank you for your quick response. I have just done another fresh windows 10 installation and I am still facing the same problem. I really don't know why this is happening.

    Hi VJR,

I think I found the problem. I think the latest update of PAD is causing this error. I have updated one of the machines that was running the flow without any issues and now it is showing the same error. How can I report this bug in the update?

    Hi @nayergirgis

For your organization you can check the Help and Support section of the Power Platform Admin center.

Someone who is an admin will be able to see more options there.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/get-help-support

Or maybe check from inside the PAD tool if there is a direct option.

If you are facing this issue in the free version maybe you can try the found a bug link.

Don't know what are the other ways.
