Schedule a Power Automate Desktop flow

Hi all,

I a newbie in Power Automate.

I have created a desktop flow that opens an excel file located in a Sharepoint folder, run a macro (in the macro script I run SAP Analysis for Office) and save as csvs the tables of SAP Analysis Reports. Then the flow saves the excel file and close it.

I want to schedule it to run on 4 times per day. My questions so far are:

  • Do I need a License (and what kind of license do I need)
  • I will set the Desktop flow in a Desktop PC that is always on (but it maybe turn into sleep mode). Will the flow run if the PC is on Sleep mode? How can I prevent my PC from turning into Sleep Mode?
  • Do I need a Data Gateway? My files are all in Sharepoint and the output CSVs also are being saved in a Sharepoint folder
  • If a Data Gateway is needed, where should be installed? Is the same as Power BI Data Gateways? Can I install it in my Desktop PC, the same that I will use for my flow? Then, if is the same with Power BI data Gateway, can I use it for Power BI reports too?
  • I have heard in a video that I have to setup a desktop connection? How?

Thank you in advance!

Best Regards,

Eleftheria

    Hi @EleftheriaK

I have only one suggestion. You can use Cloude Schedule flow. There you can use in the given interval it will run automatically.

For this you need Office account to Access the share point. After no need more License. Microsoft 365 is Enofe for this

If the answer Happy Give a Like & are you satisfied with the Answer Make the question as Resolved

    Thanks/Regards

    Hi @Kannan_n ,

I have already created a desktop flow that opens excel files refresh them (some of them have  SAP Analysis reports that need to be refreshed) and save then in a Sharepoint folder. I want to schedule this flow to run 4 times per day. You mean that I could schedule this flow without license? Can you give me more details?

    Thank you in advance,

    Eleftheria
