Need to download file from Salesforce and save it in Sharepoint

Hi, we have a use case where external users will upload a file into Sharepoint via a portal site. We need save this file to Sharepoint, and we looked into calling a Sharepoint REST API to do it but realized an issue with Salesforce Apex heap size limits that will prevent us from being able to send over files > 5 MB.  Can we use Power Automate to download the file from Salesforce and save it into Sharepoint? If anyone is familiar with this use case, can you please share an article or video describing how to go about this? Thank you very much!

    Hi there!

The easiest way to do complete this is to use power automate desktop.  If you are not familiar with it, it's a desktop application that runs in the browser and performs the actual clicks; in your case, to click on a link or file and download it.

From there you could save the file directly into the SP site of your choice.

It's fairly easy to use; for general testing, just turn on the recorder and perform the steps to download a file.

Hi, thanks for your reply. This however will not work for our use case because the retrieval of the file from Salesforce and uploading into Sharepoint needs to happen automatically. We would need to trigger the workflow whenever a file gets uploaded in Salesforce and upload that file into Sharepoint automatically.

Yes, use Power Automate as the integration layer.

Store the file in Salesforce first, then have Power Automate retrieve the file using its ID and upload it to SharePoint.

This is the most common and scalable approach for overcoming Salesforce Apex file size limitations while integrating with SharePoint.
