Will flow that sends a message from shared mailbox still work after author's account becomes inactive?

Hi there,

First post here so go easy on me.

A colleague is due to go on leave and their 365 license will be downgraded / deactivated for a period of time while they're away. They've set up a flow that sends all MS Forms response via email to their boss. This email comes from a shared mailbox that will still be active.

Does anybody know if the flow would still work? or is it based on the author having an active account?

Any and all info would be really appreciated.

Ben

    Go easy on you!? Never!!!

The owner needs an active account.  But!  You can change who the Owner is, even if it hasn't been shared to you - as long as you're a Power Platform admin.

Might I recommend: create an account called something like svc_powerautomate that will become a Co-Owner (and then an Owner) for all flows so there's always something dependably owning it?

    Per @Mirega :

Flows which were created by a deleted/disabled user will get removed even if they have enabled co-owners. Please clone the flows with your service account before this happens.

I thought that might be the case, about deleted / disabled users. Thanks so much for your help 🙂

As an aside, what if the creator of the flow was still active but only with an E3 365 license, instead of E5. Would that allow the flow to still work?

    Hi @Sleepy_hoops ,

Power Automate will work in that case as well but with some standard actions and with some limitations.

If the flow uses some premium connector, then in that case it will cause issue.
