Create Item Failed: The specified user could not be found

Hi all,

I created multiple flows that get triggered when items are created or modified in various SharePoint Lists. Once triggered, the flow eventually creates new items in a separate List using the user claims from the original List. These flows were working completely fine up until January. I did not notice they were not working properly because they were not failing; they were passing through blank outputs from Select operation. I updated the flows to grab the correct output and now it is not recognizing any users within my organization. I have tried deleting my SharePoint and Outlook connections and readded them which did not work. I also tried rebuilding the flows from scratch and the errors still occur. I am currently the only person in my organization working with Power Automate so the troubleshooting and support is minimal.

One of the Flows where Users are no longer found:

The specified user [{"Claims":"REDACTED"},{"Claims":"REDACTED"}] could not be found.

Any ideas or suggestions are much appreciated!

    Any time I have encountered this issue, it means exactly what the error message is telling you. You should check Entra ID to see if the user's account has been disabled or deleted.

    Hi David,

    The users are active. I have attempted to use my own email/claim in the flows and a variety of other internal staff who are not deleted or disabled and it still does not run properly.

    What is the purpose of this and how does it work:
    It appears you are using this to populate the people field in the create item action. Does the completed by people field allow one name, or multiple names? Is the Assignedto0 field allow one name or multiple?

    They are both multi-select people fields in SharePoint Lists.

    I am transferring the user from one list to another list.

    I think you need to switch the mode to "input entire array" for the "Completed By Claims" column:

    To switch modes, clear the column and switch mode to input entire array as shown below:

    I switched to Input Entire Array and still received the same message that users cannot be found.

    This was using my own user claim from a SharePoint List and trying to create an item in a new SharePoint List with my user claim.

    Again to mention, these flows were running perfectly fine last year up until the new year. Does anyone know if an update occurred or if anyone else has had a similar issue?

    Yes, this is very odd.

    Can you check and show us the output of the Select action. It should have the format:
    [
      {
        "Claims": "i:0#.f|membership|JohannaL@onmicrosoft.com"
      },
      {
        "Claims": "i:0#.f|membership|HenriettaM@onmicrosoft.com"
      },
      {
        "Claims": "i:0#.f|membership|DiegoS@onmicrosoft.com"
      }
    ]

     I was expecting the Select action to look something like this:

    My Select Output looks as it should (this is using the New Designer for Power Automate)
