I need to put into an existing sharepoint library a column which generates a sequential number.
THe number has to follow the last number in the column.
SO far when I try to do this i am not able to see the library in the connection area.
I have tried the when item is created and when file is created options resulting in not seeing the column I need.

You can do that right in your SharePoint List. Add a column that has a static 1 that auto populates when a new item is added. Then do your column for a Sequential # using a formula to add the two columns (last # + 1).

Based on your screen shot, I am not sure your what you have in your post aligns with what you are asking. How does the screen relate to adding a field to your SharePoint document library with a sequential number. In the screen shot it appears you want to know how to populate the Id value for the Get file properties action. Please clarify what you need. The title of the post also doesn't seem to align with either the screen shot or what you posted.

If you are just asking how to populate the ID in the get file properties action, you do this:

The ID value comes from the trigger and is found under dynamic content. If you want to add a field to your list to populate here, it will not work. You need to use the correct ID that gets generated when a new file is created.

Thankyou @David_MA. Sorry that the screenshot is ambiguous.  I am trying to create a column that autoincrements when  file is added to a library. I cannot rely on the built-in ID field of the library because I have 4 categories of document and each one must have its own index.  I created a column for each of those categories.
In the screenshot, the column I built does not appear as  a choice.  I have no idea why taht is.
