Process advisor license check update

We are excited to announce an update to the license requirement for using Microsoft process advisor that removes barriers to people’s process-optimization journeys. Users can now create a process or add a recording to a process without needing a Power Automate per-user plan or a Power Automate per-user with attended RPA plan. The license is required when a user tries to analyze a process or view a process’s analytics, but users can start a Power Automate trial to try out the features.

License check now occurs inside process advisor.

As before, users need to have the Process Advisor User security role to access process advisor tables and the Environment Maker security role to setup dataflow with data-based processes. Learn more about process advisor security roles.

Task mining (recording-based processes) contributors can upload recordings without worrying about licenses if they have the necessary security roles, so process owners can invite more people to document and analyze complex processes. Process mining (data-based processes) users can try out the data transformation and ingestion first and be confident in using process advisor before considering the license.
