PAD: Does “Post message in a chat or channel” (Teams) require Premium licensing?

In Power Automate Desktop (PAD), can a user without a Power Automate Premium license use the Microsoft Teams action “Post message in a chat or channel”?

I have Premium, but I need to know whether non-premium users can use/run a PAD flow that includes this action.
I have the same question (0)

    Hi  ,

Non-premium users also can use Microsoft Teams action “Post message in a chat or channel” in PAD. To identify premium actions you can check the diamond Icon in the action set in PAD action panel as shown below.

No Premium license is required if the user has a Microsoft 365 license. “Post a message in a chat or channel” is a Microsoft Teams connector action, and the Teams connector is a standard connector that Microsoft 365–licensed users can use.

    Details:

    • Standard vs Premium: Microsoft 365 licenses include use of standard connectors; Premium is only needed for premium/custom connectors or premium features. The Teams connector isn’t listed among Premium connectors, so it’s standard.
    • PAD support: Power Automate for desktop exposes cloud connectors (including Microsoft Teams) inside desktop flows, so the action is available there as well.
    • When Premium is required: If you use any Premium features (for example, unattended desktop flows/RPA, premium or custom connectors, on‑premises data gateway, Dataverse premium capabilities), you’ll need appropriate Premium licensing.

    Best regards,

Thank you very much for the detailed explanation.

I tested the flow with a colleague who does not have a Power Automate Premium license,
and in our environment, both the Teams chat notification and the email notification did not work for that user.

I also checked internally with some experts in our organization, and they mentioned that there may currently be an issue or inconsistency
on Microsoft’s side regarding the diamond (Premium) icon and licensing behavior.

For now, we have adjusted our operational process to cover this, so not having the Teams chat notification is not a problem for our current use case.

I really appreciate everyone in the community for sharing their knowledge and insights — it was very helpful for understanding the situation from multiple perspectives.

Thanks again, and have a great day!
