Error: 'Output arguments can't have trailers.'

Hello RPA developers 🙂

 

After I migrated Softomotive process to PAD and then opened the process I noticed some errors.

The errors are in 'Trim text' actions and it says 'Parameter ":Output arguments can't have trailers.'

What does that mean?

    I'm guessing:

    An output variable has to be a specific variable, such as %variable%.

     

    Variables such as %File% have properties such as %File.Name%

    You cannot have %File.Name% as an output, you have to Set %FileName% to %File.Name% and save %FileName% as the output without a trailer.

    I just figured out what was the problem. In Softomotive it was possible to have an output parameter such as %Accounts[0]%. If for instance you have a list stored as variable %Accounts% and than you want to 'Trim Text' action but only %Accounts[0]% (first one in that list) you can store trimmed text into %Accounts[0]% and the process will work with that info just as fine, while in PAD you have to define output parameter like a fixed variable..in this case I'll have to store it like %FirstAccount% for example.
