Saving prompt issue

Hello everyone,

I have this odd issue where the 'run a prompt' function won't save despite it working in the tests. I'll explain further below:

So I am trying to get the prompt to populate a template with placeholders in them. When I upload the template and hit test, everything works fine. However, when I click save, an error message pops up stating "Something went wrong while saving your custom prompt. Try again later.". Then, I will hit test again and an error message will pop up saying "An error occurred while replacing output document placeholders", despite it working before.

No too sure how to fix this and since I'm a beginner I don't really know where to start. Any ideas on what I might be doing wrong?

Changing the output format or the language model usually help. I’ve run into a similar issue before — for example, it was failing when using JSON output, but switching to plain text worked fine.
It seems like a general instability of the solution rather than a configuration mistake. In my case, I was working through Power Automate, but I believe the underlying mechanism is very similar, so the behavior you’re seeing in Copilot Studio is likely related to that.

Switching the output format from a structured format like JSON to plain text has resolved similar save failures for others.
One more thing to try: open Copilot Studio using the preview URL https://copilotstudio.preview.microsoft.com instead of the standard URL, then try creating and saving the prompt again.

This has been reported to fix certain save errors that appear to be environment-side issues rather than configuration mistakes.

If neither works, recreate the prompt from scratch in the preview environment and test there before saving.

    Best regards,

    Valantis
