Good day,

Kindly assist, I shared my canvas app which uses dataverse as the data source with my users. Now, the users are unable to access the app because of this error: "Error when trying to retrieve data from the network: Principal user (Id=b67704b6-df16-f111-8342-6045bd4339aa, type=8, roleCount=1, privilegeCount=472, accessMode='0 Read-Write', AADObjectId='3d1366e8-83b4-44b8-8c87-9a9a46a9c9c7', MetadataCachePrivilegesCount=5960, businessUnitId=70f15f59-8511-f011-991b-00224866016a), is missing prvReadcr473_GLBUsers privilege (Id=e3f99942-f8cc-4d5d-8155-a37905b6c4f6) on OTC=10381 for entity 'cr473_glbusers' (LocalizedName='GLBUsers'). context.Caller=b66794b6-df1...". Please advise on how can I go about addressing this.

@Petrusottie1 Hi,

Please try to verify the security roles in admin portal, locate your environment, then go to settings/Security roles, find the role you want to verify.

find the table (cr473_glbusers)and grant the security role with correct access right.

All the users must have appropriate access to the Dataverse tables used by the Canvas app.
A common best practice is to create a dedicated security role for the app and assign it to all users who require access.

I recommend following the steps below:

Create a new security role for your app (for example: BasicUser_<AppName>).

Sign in to the Power Platform Admin Center and select the environment where the app is deployed.

Navigate to Security Roles and create a new role by copying the existing Basic User role.

Rename the copied role to something appropriate, such as BasicUser_<AppName>.

Edit the new role and update the table permissions (including table "GLBUsers" for all tables used by your Canvas app.

Initially, you can set the privileges to Organization level for simplicity.

You can later refine the permissions based on your security requirements.

Save the role.

Go to Users in the same environment and assign this new role to all users who have access to the app.

This approach should resolve the access issue.

Hi stampcoin,

Thank you so much for a respond, does this mean I have to create a customizable security role because so far I've just assign the users Basic User role when I was sharing the app. Please advise, thank you.

@Petrusottie1 Hi,

It's better to create a copy from one security role, then change accordingly.

What you can do now is change the basic user role to make sure this role has the read access to your customized table, test it.

if that works, consider create a customized role for the future.
