Integrating Jira Cloud Agent with a Custom Copilot Agent – Best Practices?

I’m experimenting with Copilot Studio and created a custom agent with some tools. However, I noticed that the native Jira Cloud agent in Copilot is much richer and provides better actions (e.g., Fetch Issue by Key V2, Get Issues V2, List Users by Project V2).

My challenge: I haven’t been able to connect Jira directly with my custom agent in the same way. The tools I added don’t expose as many capabilities as the Jira Cloud agent.

What I’d like to achieve:

Use my custom Copilot agent to handle conversations, prompts, and extra workflows.
Still be able to invoke Jira Cloud agent’s actions (like listing users, fetching issues, etc.) within that custom agent.
Ideally chain Jira data with other steps (e.g., send to Teams, log in SharePoint, or enrich with custom logic)

Questions:

1. Is there a supported way to reuse the Jira Cloud agent’s actions inside a custom Copilot agent?

2. Or do I need to rebuild Jira APIs as custom tools (which feels like reinventing the wheel)?

3. Has anyone here successfully combined the native Jira Cloud agent with their own custom agent flows?

Appreciate any guidance or patterns you’ve used!

Hello

did you look in copilot studio tool ? there a lot, very lot of tool for jira : (and i see a MCP Jira , MCP are "magic box" wich do everything in natural language :) ) : so you could construct you'r own jira agent by adding the tool inside.

You could go further by having a "master agent" Jira with sub agent "JIRA" with only some tool, you could add Teams tool etc etc. So you could chain everything :)

I already have added Jira MCP server and other Jira tools to my custom agent, but the responses I get is very different than existing Jira Cloud Agent. For ex:
When I ask this question "List all jira tickets assigned to me" Below are responses:

Co-pilot Agent with Jira tools Existing Jira cloud bot.

Also, Jira MCP server don't include many tools, I can only see these and that too gives error everytime.
