Limit of ~50-Page PDF Uploads in Copilot Studio Agents - Any Workarounds or Planned Increases?

I'm running into an issue with the ~50-page upload context limit for PDFs when adding documents to an agent in Copilot Studio as an agent user.

Right now, Copilot Studio only allows uploading up to ~50 pages, and anything beyond that is rejected. I attempted to work around this by splitting an 80-page PDF into two separate files (one with 50 pages and another with 30 pages). Unfortunately, even this approach didn't work.

My questions for the community:
  1. Has anyone found a reliable workaround to upload larger documents or multiple PDFs that exceed the limit?
  2. Does Microsoft have any plans to increase the 50-page limit in future updates?
  3. Any best practices for handling long documents within Copilot Studio?
Any insights or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The issue currently is the limitation, which you already realize.

    To answer you
    1. No Microsoft has not provided any documentation about doing bigger files, at least in Copilot. This would be something open to everyone to see as we don't see their roadmap here.

    2. As for plans, again you would have to ask them. It has been noted many many times that people are bugged by this limitation and it's been noted in the feedback and asks, but that's all we can really say.

    3. The same solution unfortunately for everyone is break them apart into smaller chunks.

Not much else you can really do at this point.

If these suggestions help resolve your issue, Please consider Marking the answer as such and also maybe a like.

    Thank you!

    Hi,

In addition to the reply from Michael, you can consider creating your agent using Azure AI foundry. This is a pro-code option from Microsoft for creating agents with more flexibility and control on outcomes.

    Hello Michael,

Thank you for the clarification — very helpful.

I have a follow‑up question regarding your third point about breaking the document into smaller chunks:

If we split a large PDF into multiple files (each under the 50‑page limit), is there any supported way for a Copilot Studio agent to analyze those files together as a single body of information?

For example, could a topic guide the user to upload multiple PDF segments one after another, and then use a Prompt or another mechanism to summarize or reason over all uploaded files collectively?

I’m trying to determine whether Copilot Studio can aggregate context across multiple uploads, or if each file is treated as an isolated resource.

Currently I tried this and it did not work, but I want to check to see if this is possible just in case.

Thanks again for your insight — it’s much appreciated.

    Hello André,

Thank you for your input and suggestion to use Azure AI Foundry which is a pro-code option with more flexibility. This definitely sounds up my alley. I'm not a programmer but I know how to use AI to get me far. I have not used Azure AI Foundry yet, so will have to look into it.
