I have a form where in data cards need to be filled out. However, appears like spellchecker is not working? it works when the app is opened in MS Teams though.

I assume you've enabled the spell check property on the data cards.
The spell check functionality relies on browser functionality, so I'd check your browser settings. The link below relates to Chrome, if that's what you're using.
