error while uploading PDFs

talked to a support agent who sent me here, two days ago i was using PDFs in Copilot normally, today, i get this message,

I tried to summarize the uploaded files, but I can’t access their contents. Both PDFs returned as empty, corrupted, or in a format I can’t process, so there’s no text for me to read.

Next step (quickest):
Please re‑upload the PDF(s) (or upload a text/Word version), or paste the text you want summarized here.

If you’d like, you can also tell me which document you want summarized and how brief you want it (e.g., 5 bullets, executive summary, or one paragraph), and I’ll do it immediately once the content is accessible.

so, i recreated the files, from scratch, then Copilot accused me of giving it scanned or OCR documents, which i did not, the support agent stated i need to save my PDFs as PDF/A, i do not see that as an option in Word.

i saved both files as Keep text only, which was his or her only suggestion, if i have to copy and paste everything from a Word file, Copilot will no longer be the solution it once was, nor the solution i need.

If you want the absolute simplest path forward without fighting the PDF engine:
    • Open your Word doc.
    • Save as .docx (if it isn't already).
    • Upload the .docx directly.
This bypasses the entire PDF parsing engine, which is the specific layer causing your current headache.

The "Wait and See" logic is also valid: Because this is often a regional service issue, if it worked yesterday and fails today on the same file, it is almost certainly a Microsoft backend transient error that will resolve itself in 24–48 hours.
