Session count / billing if making the bot start the conversation using a custom canvas

Hi,

We have implemented a custom canvas using a similar approach as per Make your Power Virtual Agents bot start the conversation using a custom canvas | Microsoft Power Virtual Agents

We have the 2,000 sessions per month base package.

My question is around this "Information: Having the bot start the conversation will show up in your analytics and increase your session count. If the user of your bot doesn’t engage with the bot (for example, they load the page but don’t ask the bot anything), the session will be marked as an unengaged session. This might impact your analytics."

Does this mean that if someone simply loads the chatbot and is presented with a welcome message/options it is still an unengaged (not chargeable) unless the customer actually types a message or clicks a menu option?

Regards

Richard

    Hi @hugoghughes,

The definition of a billed session is available here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-virtual-agents/analytics-billed-sessions#definition-of-a-billed-session

The scenario you describe (bot greets user on a website, customer doesn't interact with the bot) should not generate a billed session, unless if uses premium functionalities, as described in the documentation (for example if your Greeting topic calls a cloud flow, etc.)
