Target URL is not allowed - Outlook 365 Send email with options

Hi!

I have set up a flow that is supposed to send an email with functional buttons to collect responses. I am using the Outlook 365 'Send email with options' action.

But when a user tries to click on the buttons, the message "Target URL not allowed" appears.

I’ve tried setting up the Actionable Email Developer Dashboard in Outlook, but I’m not sure what to enter in the Target URL field. I am trying to set this up for test users.

I’ve tried several endpoint URLs but none seem to work. I have ensured that I’m using the correct sender and recipient addresses for testing.

Any tips on what I should try?

    Hi,

This is a premium feature so not sure what licensing you have.  I recommend you go back to the basics and create a simple flow, email with options, and send it to yourself and validate using standard buttons.  That said, you have three areas to check:

    • Allowed URLs: The error often indicates that the URL you're trying to send in the email (for options or actions) is not included in the list of allowed URLs for your environment. Power Automate has restrictions on which URLs can be used for security purposes.

    • Connector Limitations: If you are using connectors that have specific restrictions on URLs (e.g., Office 365 connectors), ensure that the URL you are trying to use complies with those restrictions.

    • Environment Settings: In some cases, the error might stem from the settings of your Power Automate environment, which may have restrictions on external URLs.

I managed to solve it by creating the flow in Azure Logic App instead. This action is not from a premium connector but comes with the Outlook 365 connector. There are two relatively similar actions (Send an approval + Send email with options), both of which fail.

However, for the flow I created in Logic Apps, I had to select a different geolocation than I would have otherwise. Otherwise I would get the same error again. It seems like there’s a bug related to geolocation.

The error is related to the setup of Actionable Message, but it wasn’t necessary for the flow I created in Logic App
