Fields made from option columns in Lists showing only generic options

I made a sharepoint list with some option columns, then I made a form app with that list. It happens that the options field in the app only displays generic options (Item 1, Item 2,...), not the options I defined in the said Sharepoint List. What could it be? There's like 30 fields to be filled, is it too much and ends up bugging the app? I never had this problem making PowerApps apps, they had fewer fields, btw.

Yes, it can happen, but 30 fields is usually not “too much.”
    • Refresh the SharePoint data source in Power Apps, or remove and re-add the data source.
    • For a SharePoint choice column, the combo box/dropdown Items should usually be:  Choices([@YourListName].YourChoiceColumn  .“Item 1, Item 2…” often means the app/control still has placeholder sample data instead of the SharePoint choice source.
    • If you are using modern Combo box/Dropdown controls, try switching that card back to a classic Combo box/Dropdown.
Most common fix: refresh/remove-readd the SharePoint data source, delete the affected choice data cards, then add those fields again to the form.

    Hi,

This is usually a data sync/binding issue, not the number of fields.

    Most likely causes:
    • The app hasn’t picked up the latest SharePoint choices → refresh the data source
    • The dropdown is not bound correctly → ensure Items = Choices(List.Column)
    • The form field mapping got corrupted → remove and re-add the field

In short: the app is showing default values because it’s not using the actual SharePoint Choice column properly, not because of having 30 fields.

Hi @GC-30061152-0, you might be seeing this.

Refreshing the data source is indeed one of the first things to try. Sometimes that resolves the issue. If it doesn't, follow these steps for a workaround:

    1. Select the Choice/Option Set control (in my case, it's the Status DataCardValue control).
    2. In the Properties pane, go to Fields and click Edit.
    3. A pop-up will appear. For both Primarythe text and Search, select Value. Even if Value is already selected, simply reselect it.
    4. Run the app in Play mode and check the dropdown again. The options should now be visible

This usually fixes the issue for me. Hope it works for you!
