Hello Experts,
Imagine you manually deployed a managed solution to UAT/Production with over 100 environment variables. Later, you decide to automate the deployment using Power Platform Build Tools. According to MS Learn, to deploy environment variables, you need to create an Environment Settings file, which can only be generated from an unmanaged solution using Power Platform CLI. However, in this case, I need to generate the Environment Settings file from UAT/Production, which has the managed solution. Otherwise, I would have to first generate the file from the Development environment and then manually update it with the UAT/Production environment variable values (this is what MS Docs says), which is quite tedious, especially with a large number of environment variables.
Has anyone else encountered a similar scenario? It's not always feasible to create the Environment Settings file during the initial deployment; sometimes, the decision to adopt CI/CD for automation comes later.
Have you ever created an Environment Settings file from a managed solution or an environment with a managed solution?
I would greatly appreciate any guidance on this.
