Updating PAD without Admin Rights

We no longer have admin rights at our company and have to request any installs/updates.

Is there anyway I can get permissions to update PAD which seems to have updates every week now (at least for me - I don't even think when admin logs in and updates that the updates take sometimes!)

We have tried giving me full control of the C:\Program Files (x86)\Power Automate Desktop folder but it still needs admin to update.

Thanks for any tips to my my life easier!

If your environment uses a Windows LTSC version, you can shoot an email to your admin and ask them to include Power Automate Desktop in their Windows patching.

This can be a problem when a version with issues is rolled out (2.14, 2.22, 2.23, etc.).

It is a problem, nearly every other day.

I'm not sure they can allow permissions at an app level, I will need to check BUT what I do know is that with the number of hackers out there so many organisations are going to lock user admin rights and this is going to be a major issue for this product.

    Hi @beebul,

Try installing power automate app from Microsoft store, it doesn't need admin access.

Also, it gets updated automatically as soon as update comes.

    Regards,

    Karan

Hmm that could be a solution - that app gets terrible reviews on the store though - are there some differences?

I can't really risk having any issues as I run automations daily.

    Hi @beebul,

There is no difference as such, only thing is Machine Runtime app which is part of Power Automate desktop normal installation, is not the part of app. Which needs to installed separately and requires admin access.

But good part is that its a onetime activity.

Once machine is registered even if runtime app updates, will not affect the flow run.

    Regards,

    Karan
