Redirecting to default environment while editing the power app.

Hi everyone,

I am experiencing an issue with a Power Apps visual embedded inside a Power BI report.

When I attempt to edit the Power Apps visual from the Power BI report, it redirects me to Power Apps Studio in the Default environment. However, once redirected, the app fails to load the Power BI data and I am unable to edit or take over the app.

Because of this, I cannot properly modify the Power Apps visual linked to the report.

Power BI always opens the Power Apps visual in the environment where the app was originally created. Probably your app was created in the Default environment, so when you try to edit it, Power Apps Studio opens "Default Envirnment", but the PowerBIntegration control cannot load the report data outside the original context, causing the app to appear blank. To fix this, open the app directly in the "Default environment" or recreate the visual from Power BI in the correct environment so it binds properly.

Let me know if it is true?

    Most common root cause:
    • The Power Apps visual was created in another environment, but Power BI always tries to edit it in the Default environment.
Please verify below these in order:
    • Are you  co-owner of the app ?
    • Does app exist in Default environment ?
    • Do you have Build permission on dataset ?
    • Is Report workspace role  Contributor or Admin ?
    • Does PowerBIIntegration data source exist in the app ?

We suddenly started experiencing this same issue after Monday March 9. Up until March 6, embedded apps were opening correctly in the environment that they were originally created and exist in.

The apps were not recently edited, roles or permissions were not changed.

The redirect URL string when opening the Power Apps visual for editing from Power BI shows redirecting to the "default" environment instead of the environment the app was originally created in. This did not happen before last week.
Because the apps exist in the correct environment, not the "default" one, the redirect causes an error. We are unable to edit our embedded apps.

Please open a Support Ticket with Microsoft for quick guidance on this PowerBIIntegration.

    Thank you.

    Hope this helps.
