I have set my computer Region/Date to Australia DD/MM/YYYY format. I have set Sharepoint region to the same so my Sharepoint list displays in that format. I have created a PowerApp that insists on displaying dates in MM/DD/YYYY format. How do I change it?
Hi @paNewby, if the PowerApp is running in the browser then you need to change the regional settings for the browser also.
For an example with Chrome, please see my earlier post, I think the second in this thread:
https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/PowerApps-Forum/DateTime-picker-displays-incorrect-format-for-our-region/m-p/23012
Please let me know if this resolves your issue.
I am testing it using the Desktop version and pressing the forward arrow (F5)
I just made sure my Chrome browser was set to Australia and tried launching from there but still it displays in the wrong format. Am I meant to format each date field using the function i.e. will this only work in default format if it stays in MM/DD/YYYY format?
How intriguing. On my PC it works in MM/DD/YYYY format and on my phone it works in "MMMM DD, YYYYY" format. At least that's workable
Sorry, I was premature in accepting your reply. the date displays acceptably on my phone but still in the wrong format on my desktop PowerApps and in emails that are from my workflows. Do you know where I can get a list of places I need to update to get dates to display in the correct format?
Hi @paNewby
Sorry to hear that you are still having issues. After changing the Chrome settings, all the rest seems to work fine for me.
All my systems run UK locale, including PC, mobile etc. I am not aware of anything else that needs to change.
Afraid I am at a loss now. My app does what I need but I can't live with incorrectly formatted dates - it's too dangerous e.g. there's a big difference on a due date of 12/1/2017 vs 1/12/2017 - we could be really late, or early, for an appointment.
How exactly is your app displaying the date? Does this not work?
Text(somedatevalue, "dd/mm/yyyy")
I tried inserting a new texbox on the form with your suggested format and I get an error message that says "Invalid arguement type(Control). Expecting a Text value instead"
I just did this where StartTime is a column in a SharePoint list with date and time:
Text(StartTime;" dd/mm/yyyy") for me this works, but NOT Text(StartTime,"dd/mm/yyyy") so try with a semicolon instead after StartTime.
