Licensing with premium connectors - huge cost

Hello All,

If I consider creating a power app (canvas app) with premium connectors for a user base of 200, the licensing cost comes out to be around 4000 USD per month.
As I understand that every end user, using the app should have the license, which is 20 USD per month.

Am I making a mistake in comprehending this?
Because with this cost, this looks like an unviable option.

Any inputs and insights are highly appreciated!

Thank you!

    Thanks for posting.

You're not making a mistake - that is the correct cost of the premium licensing.

If your company has an Enterprise Agreement/uses Volume licensing and has a Microsoft Account manager, you might be able to negotiate a discount.

If it's possible that not all 200 of users use the app in any given month, it might be more cost effective for you to license using the pay as you go model. The details of that are here.

You are correct that every user will require a premium licence if the app is using premium connectors.

However, If its the 1 power app use case you're looking at atm, then you're better of with the Power Apps pay as you go licence which is $10 per user per month. Which then instantly halves the cost you have listed. This is still considered a premium licence so can be used on Apps with premium connectors.

I agree that the very first use case can seem expensive. The advantage of later upgrading to a Power Apps Premium ($20) would be that your users can consume multiple Power Apps, meaning for every power app, the individual app cost lowers.

    Thanks

Thank you for the prompt response, and confirming my understanding....
Sadly the use case is as such that every user would use the app a couple of times in a month.
Therefore, either pay as you go or upfront premium licensing is required.

Given the cost, this doesn't look viable at the moment.
Hoping there would be some licensing updates from MS, to democratize this platform.

Where at all possible I advise our users  - we're a company of 73,000 staff - where possible to stick to standard connectors; so SharePoint instead of Dataverse etc. It doesn't always work as there might be solid business rules for a particular premium connector but if you can investigate workarounds using standard connectors it will save you money.
