Sharepoint online items list as copilot studio agents's knowledge base

Hi,

As of today (2026‑02‑04), a Copilot agent cannot access files stored as attachments within SharePoint Online list items.

Additionally, a site-level agent—despite having access to the full contents of a SharePoint site—still cannot retrieve attachments stored in a SharePoint Online list.

Based on the current Copilot Studio roadmap, it also appears that Microsoft does not plan to address this limitation.

Does anyone have any updates on this?

As far as I know, Copilot Studio agents still do not ingest SharePoint Online list attachments. This condition affects both site-level and agent-level knowledge sources. The behavior aligns with the current graph and ingestion scope. Document libraries work; list attachment binaries do not. The roadmap shows no committed fix. The approach I recommend uses Power Automate to extract attachment content and persist the text into list columns or Dataverse, which the agent can index. Another option retrieves attachments through custom actions rather than passive knowledge ingestion.

Maybe something has changed, but as far as I know agents can only access SharePoint document libraries and not the attachments in SharePoint lists as knowledge sources. Do you have a resource that says Copilot Agents can now use SharePoint list attachments? I could not find any official documentation that it has been implemented.

As I understand, they just did a revamp with SharePoint lists/documents and made some features premium. Its possible its that.
