Extension installs on computer like a root kit.

Power Automate installed itself on my computer. I didn't want it so I uninstalled it. The extension adds itself to every browser and every browser profile. It acts like a root kit, as the program is uninstalled and the extension files can't be found anywhere.

I have the same question (0)

    Hi @JacksonCampbell ,

This looks like a duplicate post here.

Could you try the lastest solution and check if it suits you?

    Best Regards,

The Power Automate Desktop app can be uninstalled from the icons in the Start Menu.  The browser extensions can be uninstalled using the manage extensions settings in the browsers.  You don't need to manually delete the extension files.

I was told to post as a big again, if you happened to read that. There was no solution on there.

That was not helpful at all. I know how to uninstall an app and an extension. This is about how the Power Automate extension acts as a rootkit, installing itself on every browser and every profile with no way to get rid of it at a system level.

    Screenshot from the documentation.

Did you uncheck the Checkbox in the install wizard that says its going to install those extensions?  Perhaps if you read the documentation first or read the wizard prompts you would know what you were installing.  Its not a root kit.  You told the installer to do it.

Guess what. I didn't even install Power Automate for my current instance. I installed it in the past from the Windows Store where there is no installer, so that option isn't available. It forces it on you, doesn't go away when uninstalled, and it can't be found to get removed. Sounds like a rootkit.

    Hi @JacksonCampbell

You can take help from the solution implemented by @Rayke in this direct link to the post.

Sounds like your browsers are setup to Sync their settings, like browser extensions.  If that is the case then if you installed it on one desktop you installed it on all the browsers.  But that's a function of the browser, not Power Automate Desktop.  And yes, Store apps are designed to install and be removed without an installer.

This has nothing to do with syncing browser extensions. This is about the system forcing extensions on your browser. Other examples would be back in the day Skype, Google Drive helper, etc. Every browser and profile prompted to remove or keep extension added by the system.

That is a temporary solution to a problem that must be noted and fixed by Microsoft. This is not acceptable. And they shouldn't need people searching for registry keys to delete to get rid of it.
