Copilot Studio Session Stuck in "In Progress" When Feedback Not Submitted

Hi Community,

I’m currently working with Microsoft Copilot Studio using a Parent/Orchestrator agent.

I’ve observed that most agent sessions remain in an “In Progress” state. Specifically:

When I ask a question and the agent provides an answer, it then asks for feedback.
If I complete the feedback, the session status changes to “Completed.”
However, if I start a new test, ask a question, and do not provide feedback, the session remains in “In Progress.”

My requirement is:
If feedback is not provided, I would like the session status to automatically change to “Failed” instead of staying in “In Progress.”

Is there any way to configure this behavior in Copilot Studio, or any recommended workaround to achieve this?

no, this behavior can’t be configured easy today in Copilot Studio.
Personally, I decided to disable the classic feedback topic altogether. Copilot Studio now offers a newer thumbs‑up / thumbs‑down rating with an optional comment, which feels much less rigid and more natural for users. Because of that, I no longer rely on the old feedback flow to close sessions.
