Building an app - shift log

I'm struggling to solve the setup of my app. I want to make a shift log. When you create a new shift, you have to choose the date for which day it applies. Same with your shift name. Below you should be able to register events as it was in an Excel sheet, where the first column is the category (e.g. cars), the next column a short title. The next column a longer description.
It can be anything from one to two, and up to many events per shift. So how do I make it work practically in the app. And then be able to search by date, shift name or category.
If someone could give a hint on how it can be done, or if there is a video out there that you can learn from...

Very broad question, but the best approach would be to have a Table for Shifts and the another (with a many-to-one relationship) for the Events - Assuming you are using SharePoint, you would store the ID of the Shift table record in a Number field in Events as the key.

Depending on your desired level of complexity I there are two approaches I would recommend for building out your app using Warren's table structure suggestion.

    1. Simple Solution - Using default components
Using Nested Galleries would be a simple way to both build out and display this type of behavior in a canvas app. For input either using "editable grid" behavior inside a the nested gallery or a "pop-up form" to create the sub record which is then displayed through the nested gallery component. Shane Young has a couple great videos on this :https://youtu.be/AvGRlruMVnI?si=pKeMqyzHXbmoSB08 , https://youtu.be/eb8rmi4DaBI?si=GpGcFcllNe_H0Z3W

    2. Complex Solution - Using custom components
If you have the ability to use a custom component using the Drag and Drop component by Scott Durow https://youtu.be/UQcLqcxNblk?si=gwSPqvy5ndOs32bH
is a more complex but elegant solution.
