Adding SharePoint knowledge folder

When I add SharePoint knowledge (a SharePoint url to a folder), it always comes out as "Files" instead of "SharePoint".

How to make sure it is added as "SharePoint" knowledge not "Files"?
I have the same question (0)

Basis on my understanding, We cannot force a SharePoint folder URL to appear as SharePoint knowledge. If you add a SharePoint folder or document library path, Copilot Studio will always normalize it and show it as Files. This is by design.

Probably, when we add a SharePoint folder URL, Copilot Studio treats it as a document source and labels it “Files.”  To make sure it shows up as “SharePoint” knowledge, we need to connect at the site level, not the folder level.

Let's follow the steps to make sure we can Add as “SharePoint” Knowledge

    1. Choose “Add knowledge source” → SharePoint : Please don’t paste a folder URL into the “Files” option.

    2. Provide the SharePoint Site URL: https://contoso.sharepoint.com/sites/FinanceDept [please make sure you are giving your SP site url]This ensures the system recognizes it as a SharePoint site.

    3. Scope the ingestion: Once the site is connected, you can configure ingestion to target a specific document library or folder inside that site. Even though you’re narrowing to a folder, the source will still be tagged as “SharePoint.”

    4. Verify in Knowledge Sources list: It should now appear under SharePoint. If you see “Files,” it means the connection was made at the folder/file level instead of the site level.

Adding a SharePoint folder URL is always ingested as “Files” — this is expected. I think, we can’t force it to appear as “SharePoint”. It becomes a static indexed file source.

Suggestion: Use Power Automate to fetch SharePoint files dynamically instead of relying on knowledge because it doesn't work sometimes and automate is better approach.

I hope this works for you!

To add it as SharePoint knowledge, you need to add the folder by clicking on the SharePoint source circled below:
It will then show as SharePoint knowledge:
