When a new email arrives (v3) gets multiple emails on activation

Using the trigger, 'When a new email arrives (v3)'.

On activating the flow, the trigger collects multiple emails. Can anyone explain this behavior or what logic it's using to do so? I expected it would just listen for new emails on flow activation, as opposed to collecting a batch. I'm not sure how far back it will collect. It does not seem to be using 'unread' as a key.

    Hi @rclank

    I did a test on my side, when using When a new email arrives (v3) as a trigger, every time a new email arrives, the Flow will be triggered once, and only the information of this new email will be collected.

    Where did you see that this trigger collected multiple emails? from the output of the trigger?

    Hope the content above may help you.

    Hey @v-LilyW-msft,

    Thanks for looking at this.

    Specifically I'm looking at when I turn the flow on. Once the flow is on and running, you're correct it does behave as described above. But if I turn the flow on after it has been off for some time and emails have built up in the targeted mailbox, it collects a batch of emails on startup.

    I had hoped or would have thought that on startup it just starts listening at the minute the flow turned on, as opposed to collecting a batch of emails.

    Hi @rclank

    Because you are using a polling trigger, polling trigger periodically makes a call to your service to look for new data. When the flow is turned on again, all unprocessed/pending events are processed. Delete, and then recreate your flow if you don't want to process pending items when you turn your flow back on.

    @v-LilyW-msft

    Thank you for this! I had not found this documentation. I guess I'm still a little unclear though, I would've thought the 'When a new email arrives' trigger would be a webhook trigger?

    Hi folks, just a note on the "When a new email arrives (V3)" version - there's no recurrence on the V3 code peek as there was with the V2.. is v3 still a polling node?

    thanks

    Andy
