I get this error message "Failed to create environment for selected Teams channel.

Immediately after I login to copilot studio, I am presented with a message "To begin creating agents for Microsoft Teams, please select a team that they will be associated with."

When I do select an existing Team, I get the error message Failed to create environment for selected Teams channel. and I am unable to proceed using Copilot Studio -- cannot see "Home", "Agents" and other options column on the left

I have, in the past created multiple Agents, Prompts and Flows but hadn't logged in to this account for a few days.

What could be the possible reason why I am prompted to "select a team that they [agents] will be associated with" ?

You are being prompted to select a Team because Copilot Studio cannot find or access a valid environment for your account, so it falls back to creating a

Dataverse for Teams environment.

Since that provisioning step is failing (due to permissions, policies, or limits), you get stuck in a loop and cannot access the main UI.

The solution is to regain access to an existing environment or have your admin enable environment creation and Dataverse for Teams provisioning.

I was able to resolve the “Failed to create environment for selected Teams channel” error during Copilot Studio login by adding the security group associated with the selected Teams to the Power Platform admin center. Go to Manage -> Tenant Settings → Copilot Studio authors → Security group, choose edit, and then select the security group that corresponds to your existing Teams.
