Need Help: PDF Attachments & Performance Issues in Power Apps

Hi everyone,

I am currently developing a Power Apps application and would appreciate assistance with a few key areas.

I need to implement file attachments, specifically PDFs, in a user-friendly and scalable way. I would appreciate guidance on the best approach to achieve this.

Additionally, I am experiencing slow load times when opening the application. As I plan to include a large amount of data, I would like advice on how to optimise performance.

Thanks.

A good tutorial on how to save attachments from Power Apps to your data source using Power Automate can be found here: How to Upload/Attach Files from Power Apps to SharePoint List Item or Library

With regards to the slow load time issues you are experiencing, I can recommend to use Live Monitor to see what it is in your app that is causing the slowness: Debugging canvas apps with Live monitor - Power Apps | Microsoft Learn Once identified, we may look into resolving that.

However, to keep the forum easy to navigate, I suggest to cover 1 subject per thread, in this case the attachments. Please open a new topic for the slowness issues.

For a scalable and high-performing Power Apps solution, it is recommended to store PDF documents outside of the application in a SharePoint Document Library

or Azure Blob Storage, while keeping only the associated metadata in SharePoint or Dataverse.

This approach helps reduce storage overhead and improves application responsiveness.

To optimize performance, avoid loading large volumes of data during application startup and instead load data on demand based on user actions or screen

    navigation.

Additionally, use delegable queries wherever possible to ensure data processing occurs at the source rather than within the app, and leverage Power Apps

Monitor to identify performance bottlenecks, slow queries, and excessive API calls. Together, these practices provide the best balance of performance, scalability,

maintainability, and cost-effectiveness as the application grows and user adoption increases.
